French fries versus almonds: Calorie for calorie, which ends up as the winner?

Ideally, enjoying a day-to-day piece of French fries rather than almonds would be a basic decision, and no unfortunate results would come from choosing the pungent, broiled choice.

Yet, a Harvard master says we ought to take the discoveries of another review supporting this situation with, er, a grain of salt. This potato industry-financed research proposes there's no huge contrast between eating a 300-calorie serving of French fries and a 300-calorie serving of almonds consistently for a month, as far as weight gain or different markers for diabetes risk.

Maybe nibbling on broiled potato fragments rather than protein-pressed almonds won't poke the scale for the time being, however, that doesn't settle on the choice similarly as solid, says Dr. Walter Willett, teacher of the study of disease transmission and nourishment at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Crunchy, fulfilling almonds convey medical advantages, including bringing down "terrible" LDL cholesterol. Over an extended time, they're an obviously better choice to help avert ongoing sicknesses — including diabetes — or defer their intricacies.
